As a simple first step on your journey with essential oils, just adding some of the most common essential oils like lavender, frankincense, lemon and peppermint oil to your medicine cabinet can:

When beginning to use Essential Oils, most individuals will experience a general cleansing process; some to a different degree than others. Since we are using 100% pure, high potency essential oils, it is normal for some to experience a few minor sensitivities, such as skin irritation or diarrhea, in the beginning.
The skin is the largest organ of the body and some detoxifying processes will occur through the skin. Likewise, there may also be a loosening of the bowels while your internal organs cleanse. Being able to eliminate bodily waste is generally very beneficial.
Be cautious with young children as their systems are more responsive.
Understand that these side effects are temporary and your body is just trying to cleanse the unnatural substances it has been harboring.
When starting yourself, or someone you know on essential oils, look at each person's situation individually. Understand their daily routines, their diets, their goals, their conditions, and their age, and general health condition as determined by their physician.
A normal, healthy adult would start with about 2-4 drops of essential oil application. Even if using a few different oils together, the general application should not change.
Once the Essential Oils have been introduced and the body is familiar with their function, applications or frequencies of application can begin to increase or change in response to the body's reaction and needs.
It is a little bit different as we grow older and become more elderly. One important thing to understand is that we are what we eat, drink, consume, and apply to our skin and scalp, etc.
Our bodies deteriorate at a faster rate depending on our individual body’s ability to function and process things and eliminate waste.
One could say that our bodies simply become a storage facility for the chemicals, sugars, additives, etc. that we have consumed, which in tum will start to slow down or harm natural bodily function.
For elderly users or children, a beginning general application should only be about 1-2 drops. Keep in mind an elderly user¬ has 60, 70, 80+ years of wear and tear on the body which will cause them to experience a longer, more sustained cleansing process.
However, an infant or child is much more-organic than the normal adult and their bodies are not filled with as many toxins and chemicals. These users will not need such large applications to experience the benefits.
The most important thing to remember is that it takes time to alter your lifestyle and improve your health. Most normal adults have spent 20-30 years creating illnesses and ailments within their bodies.
These illnesses and ailments take time to overcome, especially if you have a higher toxic load. It is best to start slow and remain consistent rather than overloading the body in the beginning.
